Authorship
Most artists sign a work. Erick Calderon signed a format: the Squiggle is Art Blocks project zero, the founder's signature written in the medium the platform existed to prove.
The training was ceramic tile. Years in the family trade meant watching kilns and glazes put unrepeatable variation into identical objects, and the Squiggle is that tolerance for variance repurposed as delight.
The collector completes the work. Each mint draws its randomness from the transaction itself, so the buyer is the final seed and the drawing is the receipt.
Public minting stopped in 2021 with the edition unfinished. What remains is released rarely, on occasions of the artist's choosing, stewardship run as ceremony rather than inventory.
Upstream: Vera Molnár and Sol LeWitt, rules handed to other hands. Downstream: Fidenza, Ringers, and the long-form field that arrived through the door project zero opened.
One entanglement belongs on the record: the artist and the platform's founder are the same person. A venue rating its own founder holds a stake in the answer. An independent record does not.
